Meet Jonathan Lucas

Has it really been a month already? My, how time flies when you are busy saving homes and businesses from the adverse effects of pests! But, we checked the calendar, and it really is time for us to highlight one of the amazing members of our Active Pest Control family. This month, we have chosen to introduce you to Jonathan Lucas. Jonathan is one of our services consultants with structural pest control certification. He is, perhaps, the first voice you talk to or the first face that you see when you are looking for pest protection services.

Jonathan knows pests; and he knows the problems that they can cause, which is why he works so tirelessly to keep the homes and businesses in our community safe. He is friendly, professional, and always willing to go the extra mile to serve our community by helping you find the pest protection services that are just right to handle the pests that you are dealing with and to keep new foraging pests at bay. He has an intricate understanding of the many industry leading services that we offer, and you can count on him to help you to choose the exact services that you need, nothing more!

His favorite pest is the termite. Jonathan finds it challenging to deal with termites and knows how secretive and elusive they can be. He also knows that a home or business without proper termite monitoring and control service is a home that is in danger of severe and costly damages. He puts it this way, “Not having termite protection on your home is like driving your car without car insurance!” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!

When Jonathan is not busy helping you protect your home or business from pests, he is spending time with his wife, Valerie, and their two children, Kristen and Jordan. Jonathan says that he has been “married for 32 years – all in a row – to the same person!” which in today’s world is quite an accomplishment! Congratulations Jonathan and Valerie!

If you, too, possess the commitment, dedication, and drive that Jonathan does, we want to talk with you. We are always looking for hard-working, committed people to join the Active Pest Control family. Contact us today to learn more about our competitive wages, excellent benefits package, and positive work environment. Who knows; our next blog might just highlight you!

Meet Will Lowery

Have you ever wondered what has made Active Pest Control so successful and why so many of your friends and neighbors have turned to us for effective, environmentally responsible pest control solutions? Part of the reason lies with the fact that we have more than 43 years of experience in local pest pressures, and part of the reason is that we have access to the most advanced tools and technologies that work to combat pests. Some people love the Active Pest Control‘ roots that are tied to our community; and others like the fact that we are an industry leader and hold QualityPro Certification.

But one of the biggest reasons that so many trust the reliable services offered by Active Pest Control is that we hire only the best and the brightest. Our employees are some of the most qualified in the industry, and they exhibit the time-honored values of honesty, integrity, and professionalism. We carefully screen our prospective employees to ensure that the person that knocks on your door from our company is trustworthy, respectful, and knowledgeable. Before we allow someone to don the uniform that bears our name, we want to know that you will be as pleased with your pest control technician as you are with our services.

Each month, we take great pride in introducing one of our stellar employees to you in this blog. This month we have chosen to highlight one of our Administrative Trainer’s, Will Lowery. Will works hard to ensure that the services you receive are appropriate and that they are performed to exacting standards. He is certified in HPC (home pest control) and WDO (wood destroying organisms); with his direction in training employees, you can be sure that your pest issues will be quickly resolved and that the conditions that drew them in will be addressed!

It is no wonder that Will is certified in wood destroying organisms since termites are his favorite pest. Termites are always a challenge, and understanding the habits and habitats of these elusive pests is an important part of understanding how to eliminate and control them. Staying abreast of the ever-changing tools and technologies that are effective at combating termites takes a lot of studies and hands-on training, which is something that doesn’t deter Will Lowery. He states, “I love to learn new things,” which is a very useful attribute when battling the “silent destroyer”!

When Will is not busy supporting the offices and their training efforts, he loves to spend time with his family. He and Beth have been married for 7 years and are the proud parents of two energetic boys, Lucas and Jacob!

The next time you need pest control services for your home, give Active Pest Control a call. Even if you do not see Will Lowery on the other side of your door, you will certainly meet someone that he has influenced and is worthy to wear our uniform.

Meet Alan Hinson

When you decide to begin a career with Active Pest Control, you never imagine that years later, you will still be as dedicated to your position as you were on the very first day. There is an excitement and a commitment that comes from working for a company that treats you more like family than like an employee. There is a level of concern and care that is an automatic result of being an integral part of the Active Pest Control team that is unmatched by companies that treat you like a number rather than like the individual that you are. This relationship drives you to treat others in the same way, and it ensures that our customers are experiencing that same level of respect and concern. These qualities are also what has helped Active Pest Control remain at the top of our industry serving the residents of Georgia for more than 43 years.

Another key component to the success of our company that helps our professionals remain faithful to our company and to our clientele is the fact that we provide and encourage participation in ongoing education and training. Not only does this ensure that you are receiving the very best possible pest control solutions, but it also helps our experts to continue to expand their specialties and advance within the company.

For these reasons and many more like them, Alan Hinson has been a part of the Active Pest Control family for more than 10 years. He is a dedicated employee that always strives to ensure that our commercial pest control customers become and remain pest free. Alan takes the time to understand the specific regulations for the companies that he services to ensure that all the particulars are met. When Alan is on the job, you can know for sure that pests will be under control and remain outside your facility where they cannot damage your product, your equipment, or your reputation. Plus, he keeps meticulous records to ensure that your company remains in compliance and out of trouble with inspectors.

When Alan is not busy keeping your commercial property pest free, he enjoys spending time with his spouse and their beautiful daughter.

If you are looking for an exciting career with plenty of opportunity for education and advancement, get in touch with us. We would love to sit down and talk about all the amazing things that you can experience as a part of our family.

Meet Commercial Supervisor Rick Gilbert

For the past 43 years, Active Pest Control has built a reputation for safe, effective, eco-friendly solutions to pest pressures administered by knowledgeable professionals whose primary goal is complete pest eradication and complete customer satisfaction. Our success and longevity can be attributed to the caliber of people that we choose to become part of our team, among other things. We screen our prospective employees and check their references to ensure that the men and women that wear the Active Pest Control name are qualified for the position and that they possess strong morals and demonstrate an exemplary character; and each month, we take the time to introduce you to a member of our team.

With so many outstanding and qualified employees to choose from, our biggest difficulty each month is deciding which team member to introduce you to. This month we have chosen one of our valued commercial supervisors, Rick Gilbert. Rick has been a part of the Active Pest Control family of pest professionals for more than 11 years, joining our team in December of 2003. This is not only a testimony of Rick’s dedication and commitment to our commercial clients, but it is also a testimony of our commitment to our team. In fact, Rick said that the thing he loves best about working here at Active Pest Control is, “Our owners truly care about people – regardless if they are an employee, a customer, or in a community organization that we are involved with.”

This is truly our view; and as a company, from the owners on down through the ranks, we strive to remain focused on and committed to the people that we serve whether you are a part of our team, one of our valued customers, or a part of the many community organizations that we support.

Rick is certified in wood destroying organisms (WDO) and household pest control (HPC); both are areas that Rick has excelled in. He brings excellence and experience with him as he services and oversees our commercial clients and has earned a reputation as an exceptional professional that can identify and correct even the most difficult pest pressures utilizing integrated pest management strategies and safe, approved materials that meet all of the standards set for the particular industry he is working with. Rick works tirelessly to ensure that your commercial property is safe from pests and that you are happy with the results!

Aside from being an integral part of our commercial pest control team, Rick has a great sense of humor which is evident in his response when asked what his favorite pest is. With a sheepish grin, he wryly answered, “Dead ones!” This is extremely fortunate for Rick, since he is so adept at locating and eliminating even the most elusive of pests!

When Rick is not hard at work defending commercial properties against harmful and damaging pests, he is spending time with his lovely wife and their only son. Together, they enjoy lacrosse, serving in their church, and spending time with extended friends and family.

If pests are threatening the viability of your commercial property, give the professionals here at Active Pest Control a call. Who knows? You may just meet Rick face to face! And, be sure to tune in next month, same time, same blog, to meet the next employee we choose to showcase.

Meet Wayne Sloman

Another month, another employee for you to meet! We are always so excited to introduce you to our Active Pest Control family of pest professionals because we want you to know like we do, what exceptional people we have on our team; and this month’s choice is certain not to disappoint!

Wayne Sloman is the perfect example of the honest, hard-working men and women that we look for in prospective employees. That is because when we hire new employees, they are not just taking a job with us. They are becoming a part of our extended family; and they represent our name each time they don one of our uniforms, which is why we utilize drug testing and background checks as a part of our stringent hiring process. Typically, our new hires are such a great fit that many stay with us for years. A career with Active Pest Control is a rewarding experience that not only broadens your horizons but also leaves you with a true sense of fulfillment at the end of each day. This is exactly what Wayne was looking for in a career, and it is exactly what he found here at Active Pest Control.

Wayne has been a part of the pest control industry for over 32 years and has spent the past four years representing the Active Pest Control family. As a registered pest control technician, Wayne loves to meet new people and loves to help homeowners solve their pest problems. When asked what he likes best about working here at Active Pest Control, Wayne replied, “I love meeting new people and helping them with their pest problems.” We love that commitment and dedication to our valued customers!

Although there are many pests that Wayne is called on to eradicate, the yellow jacket is his favorite pest to deal with. While most outside the pest control industry will tuck tail and run from a swarm of these ferocious, aggressive pests, Wayne bravely wades right into their nesting sites and mounts his offensive successfully. Wayne states, “I enjoy treating yellow jackets as long as I don’t get stung!” And I am sure that he occasionally takes one for the team, but it is rare.

When Wayne is not busy defending homes against invading pests, he enjoys spending time with his wife of 46 years, Linda, their daughter, and their two grandchildren. Often, Wayne and Linda can be found picking for antiques and collectibles or traveling.

If you or someone you know possesses the high qualities that we are looking for in our prospective employees, consider joining our team of trusted professionals. It all begins with an application. Stop by one of our offices or visit our careers page.

Meet David Baginski

Another month, another employee to highlight; and although these months seem to fly by at a faster rate, we never run out of exemplary people from our ranks to introduce you to. This is partly due to the fact that we have so many highly trained experts here at Active Pest Control, and it is partly because our company is always growing and always expanding and always adding worthy men and women to the Active Pest Control family.

This month the spotlight is on David Baginski. David has been an integral member of the Active Pest Control family for six and a half years now. He diligently serves as a pest control technician who is committed to the successful eradication of pests in and around your home. He particularly loves to deal with roaches, bed bugs, and fleas, but he enjoys the challenges that all pests pose. In fact, when asked what his favorite pest is, David responded, “roaches, bed bugs, fleas. I love them all!” – And, of course, by ‘love’ he means that he loves to discover their hiding places and eliminate them completely from your home!

One of David’s favorite things about working here at Active Pest Control is that he enjoys the new customer interactions daily; and there surely are plenty of those each day because we are a company on the move, growing and adding to our Active Pest Control customer family continuously.

David is a family man and has been married to his ‘wonderful’ bride for almost 17 years. Together, they are raising two sons who are the joys of their life. When David is not actively solving your pest issues, he can be found spending time with his family or casting a line in his favorite fishing hole…a destination that will have to remain secret for now, as most fishing holes must.

When pests threaten the safety of your family or the integrity of your home, turn to the team that thousands of your friends and neighbors have trusted for more than 40 years with their pest control needs. Perhaps it will be David Baginski that shows up at your door; but if not, you can be assured that it will be someone that is equally qualified and equally worthy to don the Active Pest Control emblem and who will be equally adept at solving your pest control issues. You have our word on that.

Meet Cletius (Jim) Grizzle

One of the many benefits of running a family-owned business is getting to know the people that you work with day in and day out. We feel that our employees are really just an extension of our own family. We care deeply about each and every member of our team and work hard to support them and help them become successful in their chosen pest specialties. We help them through difficulties and rejoice with them in their accomplishments. Many of these relationships develop into long lasting career paths for those special people that are chosen to wear the Active Pest Control name. This is why we take the time each month to introduce you to a member of the Active Pest Control family. We want you to get to know some of the special people that we have the privilege of working with every day.

This month, we would like to recognize the accomplishments of Cletius (Jim) Grizzle and give you the opportunity to find out just what an exceptional man he is. His chosen specialty alone can give you some insight into who Jim really is. While some may choose to shy away from the many challenges faced when specializing in termite control, this is not the case for Jim. He welcomes the challenge that these elusive and troublesome pests pose. He has done his homework and understands their habits and habitats. He has a great eye that can quickly identify the subtle damages that termites leave as an early sign of their invasion and knows how to quickly trace their ‘tracks’ back to the heart of the infestation – the nest. He understands all that is involved to safely and effectively eliminate termites in your home or business and he has the skills to pick the right course of treatment to fit each individual situation.

Jim has been in the pest control business for more than 26 years, spending the past 7 of those years right here with us as a termite technician and is a designated certified operator. He is an integral part of the Active Pest Control team of termite specialists and loves being a part of the Active Pest Control family of professionals. Jim says, “It’s like working for your family, and they give you all the tools to be successful…you can also be yourself.”

Jim states that his favorite pest is indeed the termite! No surprise there. He meets the stress and challenges that termites present with such grace and patience. He truly is great at what he does, and we truly are very lucky to have him as part of the Active Pest Control family.

When Jim is not on the clock, you can find him with his twin boys and two lovely daughters. Being a single dad surely has its challenges, but Jim meets each one with patience and determination – we would expect nothing less from him! As a family, they love to vacation together each year and often enjoy watching movies.

If you are dealing with termites in your home, or if you want to be sure that you don’t, give us a call. You may just get to meet Jim face to face. We are certain that when you do, you will appreciate him as much as we do!

Meet Brad Couey

Meet Brad. Brad Couey is our general manager in Rome, Georgia, and has been a member of the Active Pest Control family for almost 9 years. As a trusted member of the family, Brad serves the Rome area by overseeing all aspects of our pest control operations here. Not only is Brad a natural leader who leads by example, but he is not afraid to pull up his sleeves and ‘get dirty down in the trenches’ when he needs to. He is the kind of guy that would never expect his employees to do a task that he himself wouldn’t tackle which earns him the respect of all that work with him and for him. He also loves to meet people and take care of their problems which makes him an excellent representative to our clients. His determination, education, and experience help him to solve even the most difficult pest issues here in the Rome area.

Brad is registered in Georgia and has his Georgia commercial mosquito license. He is also a certified operator in Alabama – that coupled with his experience and training makes him the perfect choice to head up our Rome office. He has experience in a wide variety of pest issues, but his favorite to tackle is the termite. These elusive and destructive creatures quite often pose a challenge, but Brad is ready and equipped to handle even the toughest and most difficult to reach termite colony.

When Brad is not on the front lines of the pest control battle here in Rome, he is at home with his beautiful wife of 17 years or in the bleachers at one of his two children’s sporting events. While they are both still quite young, it won’t be long before you will find him in the high school stadium cheering them on.

Family is important to Brad, and he loves spending time outdoors with them. Whether it is a walk in the park, a trip to the playground, or a stroll in the woods, the Couey family can be found together having fun.

Brad Couey is a valued member of the Active Pest Control family. He is equipped with the integrity and strength of character that we look for when we expand our ‘family’. If you are looking for much more than a career, consider pest control and consider talking with us. We are always looking for upstanding, trustworthy, hard-working individuals, like Brad Couey, to adopt into our family.

Meet Chris Waters

Can you believe that another month has passed and it is already time for us to highlight one of our amazing pest control specialists again? Wow! And with so many exceptional people to choose from, it makes it a daunting task to choose who we are going to talk about. We are very picky about who we allow to join the Active Pest Control family and represent our name. We want our treasured customers to experience only the best and the brightest which is why we put our prospective employees through a vigorous vetting process and dot our “i’s” and cross our “t’s” through pre-hire background checks and drug testing practices. And you can’t forget the interview process which allows us to come face to face and talk with these candidates in order to determine their character to ensure that you can trust any man or woman that dons the Active Pest Control uniform.

With a long list of worthy candidates for this month’s blog, we have chosen Chris Waters for the spotlight. Chris is an exceptional employee with exceptional character and a strong moral compass. He is married to the love of his life and together they have 6 children to walk through life with. They are also blessed to be able to care for Chris’s brother-in-law who is confined to a wheelchair and proves to be an inspiration to all of them. Chris and his family are very active in their church and place a strong emphasis on family. They are an especially active family and enjoy hiking, camping, swimming, trout fishing, and many other outdoor activities together.

As you can see by his dedication to church and family, Chris is a great addition to the Active Pest Control family. While in uniform, he serves our community as a pest control technician with 6 years of experience. His favorite pest is the spider. He doesn’t enjoy the German cockroach at all. Chris says that the favorite part of his job is, “All my customers. It gives me a sense of satisfaction to help someone with their (pest) problems.” His focus on our customers is one of the things that make Chris such a valuable asset here at Active Pest Control.

The Active Pest Control team prides itself on being able to offer an environment to our employees that is mutually beneficial. Not only is Chris an integral part of our team, but he states how he “has really grown mentally and physically over the last 6 years working with such a great company!!!!” It’s nice to have our commitment to providing an exceptional workplace reinforced with these words and his continual growth!

If you are looking for an exceptional pest control experience, consider giving us a call. You might just meet Chris face to face and discover what a gift he is to us all.

Meet Scot Norman

Here at Active Pest Control we are always on the lookout for quality people that we can add to our family.  It is always an exciting and rewarding experience to find that perfect fit for our highly trained team – that guy that gets along well with others, has integrity, and loves to serve; that guy that will join our team, roll up his sleeves, and do what it takes to protect and to serve our clients keeping them safe from dangerous and destructive pests; that guy that knows how to put the customers first and be discreet in the process. When we do find that one that is the perfect fit, we ‘adopt’ him and he becomes part of the trusted team that Georgia homes and businesses have relied on for decades.

Well, it just so happens that we found such a one.  Scot Norman walked through our doors, passed our stringent entrance qualification, and became a part of the Active Pest Control family.  And what a perfect match it is!  Scot has quickly acclimated and has earned his position as a trusted member of our commercial pest control team.  He works hard day in and day out to ensure that our commercial clients are protected from harmful pests that can damage property, product, and reputation.  Scot understands how important his role is in protecting our commercial clients and works diligently to ensure their safety.

When asked what his favorite thing is about joining the Active Pest Control team, he responded, “I love the comradery among all the employees.” When you join Active Pest Control, you are not just an employee, but you become a part of something much more meaningful.  What a wonderful thing!

Scot enjoys working with ants “because they can be challenging and often times you have to be diligent in your efforts to control them.” And diligent is the perfect adjective to describe Scot.  His patient demeanor adds to his effectiveness as a commercial pc tech and to the satisfaction of our valued commercial clients.

When Scot is not hard at work taking care of our commercial partners, he is spending time with his beautiful bride of two years, Allison.  Together they parent 2 chocolate labs that they love to hunt with, train, and yell “GO DAWGS” with.

If you are looking to join the Active Pest Control family, either as a client or as a service professional, give us a call.  We would love to find another perfect match for our highly ranked pest control team.
