Meet Chris Waters

Can you believe that another month has passed and it is already time for us to highlight one of our amazing pest control specialists again? Wow! And with so many exceptional people to choose from, it makes it a daunting task to choose who we are going to talk about. We are very picky about who we allow to join the Active Pest Control family and represent our name. We want our treasured customers to experience only the best and the brightest which is why we put our prospective employees through a vigorous vetting process and dot our “i’s” and cross our “t’s” through pre-hire background checks and drug testing practices. And you can’t forget the interview process which allows us to come face to face and talk with these candidates in order to determine their character to ensure that you can trust any man or woman that dons the Active Pest Control uniform.

With a long list of worthy candidates for this month’s blog, we have chosen Chris Waters for the spotlight. Chris is an exceptional employee with exceptional character and a strong moral compass. He is married to the love of his life and together they have 6 children to walk through life with. They are also blessed to be able to care for Chris’s brother-in-law who is confined to a wheelchair and proves to be an inspiration to all of them. Chris and his family are very active in their church and place a strong emphasis on family. They are an especially active family and enjoy hiking, camping, swimming, trout fishing, and many other outdoor activities together.

As you can see by his dedication to church and family, Chris is a great addition to the Active Pest Control family. While in uniform, he serves our community as a pest control technician with 6 years of experience. His favorite pest is the spider. He doesn’t enjoy the German cockroach at all. Chris says that the favorite part of his job is, “All my customers. It gives me a sense of satisfaction to help someone with their (pest) problems.” His focus on our customers is one of the things that make Chris such a valuable asset here at Active Pest Control.

The Active Pest Control team prides itself on being able to offer an environment to our employees that is mutually beneficial. Not only is Chris an integral part of our team, but he states how he “has really grown mentally and physically over the last 6 years working with such a great company!!!!” It’s nice to have our commitment to providing an exceptional workplace reinforced with these words and his continual growth!

If you are looking for an exceptional pest control experience, consider giving us a call. You might just meet Chris face to face and discover what a gift he is to us all.

John Burthus, Pest Technician

John Burthus is a great example of the well trained and talented pest control specialists we hire here at Active Pest Control. With seven years experience in the pest control industry and two years as a member of the Active Pest Control family, John is a valued and trusted member of the ‘family’. He is a registered pest control technician and a Sentricon® technician, which means he has the education and experience to deal with your pest control needs – including termites. John can quickly identify the pests that you are dealing with and then safely and effectively eliminate them. He will also let you know exactly how these pests have gained access to your home or office, then give you the information you need to sure up your defenses and prevent a future issue. John can always be counted on to bring his “A” game whenever he is dealing with pests.

John’s favorite pest is the velvet ant, which is actually not even an ant but a wasp. These brightly colored pests are typically red, brown, black, or yellow and covered in a thick, velvety ‘coat’. The male of the species has wings while the female is wingless. The females are especially venomous and can cause serious reactions in people if they sting. These girls, however, are not overly aggressive and most commonly sting when they are stepped on or handled by an unsuspecting victim. The potent, toxic venom of the velvet ant makes them dangerous to humans and is the reason why it is so important for infestations to be handled by a highly skilled professional like John.

Here at Active Pest Control, we pride ourselves on quality service and professionalism. It is the dedication and experience of our hard working technicians that is the backbone of this commitment. Give us a call today, and let John or another of our qualified technicians help develop your personalized pest control plan. You too can join the Active Pest Control family and experience the trusted service that so many have come to know and expect. With exceptional employees, it is no wonder why Active Pest Control is the name to turn to for your pest control needs.

A Family Man Of Integrity

Meet Chris McLendon, one of our Pest Control Supervisors. Chris has been a part of the Active Pest Control family since August of 2008. That is over 8 years of training and experience in pest control; and over 8 years of dedicated, exceptional service from Chris to our clients. He holds HPC certification and has proven to be a strong leader. Chris is a hands-on supervisor and especially loves the mystery and suspense when first arriving at a job with the task of figuring out which of the many pests is an issue in each particular case. Chris stated, “I enjoy the sleuth work associated with resolving any pest issue.” Chris is definitely one of our top ‘pest detectives’!

As is often the case, pests are not always what they seem. For instance, an infestation of fleas could actually have a rodent infestation at its root. The one thing that all pests have in common, however, is that they all have to come from somewhere. To successfully eliminate these pests it is important for our ‘pest detectives’ to determine where exactly they are coming from; and not only eliminate the source, but also the access points that are allowing them entry. This is something that Chris excels at. He takes pride in his work, and the fact that he loves his job is clearly evident, too.

When asked what his favorite pest is, he simply answered, “Ants!” Not a surprising answer considering that they exemplify leadership, diligence, and a hard work ethic that Chris also demonstrates each and every day. Ants don’t need to be told twice how to work hard – they just work hard naturally. They are never deterred and finish what they set out to do. These are qualities that Chris also possesses.

Chris does not always have his detective hat on; in fact, he is a dedicated husband and father of two beautiful daughters. He said that he is ‘quite proud’ of his wife and daughters. No wonder! With the strength of character that Chris demonstrates each day there is no doubt that his lovely wife and daughters share those values, too.

Here at Active Pest Control we strive to offer excellent service and top-of-the-line technology and products to ensure you have a successful pest control solution. A large part of our commitment to excellence is evident through our commitment to hire men and women with integrity, honesty, and honor. Chris is a great example of the quality pest detectives that help to make Active Pest Control the go-to pest control company.
